Anjaneya also referred to as ‘Hanuman’ is an important figure from Ramayana. As per the book, he is the ultimate devotee of Lord Rama. He assisted Rama in searching and finding Sita Devi when she was kidnapped by Ravana of Lanka. He further helped him to defeat Ravana and managed to burn down half of the Coastal City of Lanka in the process. The name ‘Anjaneya’ comes from his mother Anjana. Anjaneya is believed to be the son of Vayu, the god of wind. Hence the name ‘Vayuputra’. When Lord Rama was expelled from his country for 14 years he found Hanuman during a forest journey. Lord Rama was accompanied by Sita Devi and Lakshmana during this journey. It was during this period that Sita Devi got kidnapped by Ravana and the subsequent events leading to the destruction of Lanka happen.
