Neurorehabilitation is a specialized treatment that is concerned with recovery and improvement of the functional capacity of patients with neurological injuries or diseases. It is meant to restore, prevent or deal with the consequences of anatomical and functional CNS damage due to such disorders as stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury, neoplasms, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or other pathological aging processes of the nervous system, etc.

The process is done in a team comprising of several health professionals including neurologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and psychologists. As a team they evaluate and draw up an individual treatment approach. The interventions usually comprise of physical therapy to improve the patient’s mobility and strength, cognitive rehabilitation to solve the problems of memory and attention, speech therapy focused on the improvement of contact communications, and so on.
