Dr. Sandeep Nayak is an expert cancer surgeon who has pioneered minimal access surgeries, especially for thyroid cancer. He uses less invasive methods that help patients heal quicker and more effectively. He is known for his inventions like Robotic thyroidectomy (RABIT) and Robotic neck dissection (RIA-MIND) for head and neck cancers. He was a teaching faculty at Kidwai Cancer Institute until 2017. Currently, he holds the position of professor of minimal access surgical oncology at RGHUS (medical university), Bangalore. He stated the Fellowship in Minimal access surgical oncology for the first time in India. Being well versed with endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, he trains several students every year in advanced minimal access techniques. He is a prominent member of various academic associations in India and abroad.
