AFTERSHOCK ACADEMY was developed to address two core issues in the industry: 1. To shift the industry Graphic Design Programs curriculum that focuses largely on software knowledge and to integrate the fundamental knowledge required for creative message development; and 2. To maximize the allocated time Graphic Design Programs are rather than extending the length to add a perceived value and additional proficiency for the student. Simpy stated, Graphic Designers are not asked during interviews, the number of hours they have used Adobe Software; they are asked to showcase their portfolio and speak to those design elements. Aftershock Academy is committed to the students success in fulfilling the void in the job market. Having personally interviewed thousands of Graphic Design students coming out of numerous design institutions, the need for change was obvious. The gap between students becoming professionals is alarming. Aftershock Academy is the paradigm shift the industry is seeking when provided the fundamental tools a student requires to become industry ready when able to converse with the basic knowledge and skills required to become a valued member of any creative team; a professional graphic designer. Aftershock Academy creates ‘industry ready’ students who can engage with an organisation upon completion of their program.
