A high-level review meeting was held via video conferencing at the State Police Headquarters, presided over by DGP Binayotosh Mishra and attended by District SPs and Range IGs/DIGs. During the meeting, the DGP conducted a detailed review of several key issues, including the upcoming student union elections (scheduled for the 15th), law and order during the festive season, women's safety, cybercrime, crime control, and the 'Drug-free Odisha Campaign'. Regarding the student union elections, the DGP emphasized that since students constitute a sensitive section of society, it is essential for the police to maintain regular and personal contact with them. He directed the Officers-in-Charge of police stations and SDPOs to hold meetings with student leaders and ensure coordination for a peaceful election. He instructed them to prevent the entry of non-students and anti-social elements into college campuses, keep a watch on hostels and messes, and maintain regular contact with the students. The DGP also advised against the unnecessary deployment of police forces unless there was an apprehension of violence. Additionally, he asked them to keep an eye on student feasts and other related events.
